Today we started by teaching students about prepping or preparation techniques in the kitchen. Mr. Jesse demonstrated how to dice, slice, and mince. After that, we visited the amazing restaurant Coyote Cafe, in downtown Marseilles, where its owner, Nancy Harper, wowed us with an amazing cooking class on how to make a traditional Denver omelet.
Just so you know, when we entered the kitchen, we almost cried it was so incredibly clean. Wouldn't be awesome if all of our kitchens were just as clean?
Back on the farm, Mr. Robert showed how to make a traditional ham, cheese, and onion omelet, while Mr. Jesse prepared blueberry pancakes from scratch, as well as two delicious peach desserts: peach bread with a sugar glaze dripping over it, and an incredibly simple peach "dump" cake (I swear, that's the name), gooey and delicious all at once.
